The best part about food trucks, is there are hundreds of options.

The worst part about food trucks, is you have to hunt them down. Variable locations, hours, availability make is hard to find and try new ones.

But what if the food trucks came to you? All in one location?

What:

A bunch of Dessert Food Trucks, all in One Shop

Eleanor's Cream Food Truck was founded by brother and sister team Marc Favreau and Rachel Knight. While Rachel and Marc were building and trying to grow Eleanor’s Coconut Cream, they started having conversations with other food trucks and discovered they all faced similar resource difficulties.

So they created the Dessert Collective. A permanent storefront the food trucks could share, giving customers access to great desserts without the food truck having to cover the overhead of a whole store.

They have a vendor application form and currently, there are 7 different companies selling their desserts there. They are:

Eleanor's Coconut Cream

JulieAnn's Caramels

Taste Artisan Chocolate

Swirls Cinnamon Rolls

Pitta's Cakes

Grapefruit & Thyme Pies

Joy's Popsicles

Why try?:

If you like samplers or trying new things, this is awesome. 7 different dessert categories, each with a bunch of options.

Eat Utah’s Review:

We tried the Swirl Cinnamon Roll and the Grapefruit and Thyme Lemon Pie.

The Cinnamon Roll was solid but not great. I think everyone has their own personal cinnamon roll preference and this was a little too done for my taste. I like super soft (undercooked) and this was done all the way through. The frosting was great. I would try another flavor.

The Lemon Pie was very smooth great flavor, but again I wanted way more lemon. I like lemon to be approaching the sour warhead stage in desserts. I would try another flavor of pie as well.

So while I wasn’t blown away by the two items we tried, that is the beauty of The Dessert Collective. We only tried 2/7 vendors and only two of hundreds of flavors.

Looks like we will have to go back. :)

See you next week for another Utah restaurant find!
